I saw this today, as a potential beater, but things have worked out so that I don’t need to find a beater anyway. Guys says he’d take $250, just wants it off his hands. It’s crispy, but all the mechanical components are solid. Really one of the best deals I’ve seen. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

This is one of the most honest CL ads I’ve ever seen. I kinda want to buy it...

Were I a 50 year old woman who wears leopard print and smokes 2 packs a day, I would be all over that.

I really want someone to buy it. It’s incredibly ugly and dirty, but it deserves to live a few more years.

I would buy it, but 1) I’m nowhere near Buffalo, and more importantly 2) It would be as a Lemons car, and I don’t think that’s what one means by “a few more good years”. Racing glory doesn’t shine brightly in the eyes of all.

If it was local, it would be my new lemons car.

NP. I’d jump on it if I was local and had room for it.

The hinge pin/bushings are not too hard to do if the hinges themselves have not been wallowed out. The CEL is a mystery until codes are pulled. The roof looks awful, but that can be taken care of without redoing the whole car.

Not sure what to make of the “very rough” driver seat. Seller should have posted more than three pictures.

Pretty sure I’ve never seen that era Cougar or Thunderbird driven by anyone other than who you just described.

It actually doesn’t even have a CEL. guy was confusing the “maintenece required” light for the CEL.

Reach out to Orlove. For $200 it’s a perfect follow up to the Lexus.

Seriously, that’s a lot of car for the money even at $450. It’s not the 3.8 so you don’t have to worry about reliability much either.

I didn’t think those had a maintenance req’d light. My 1996 ‘bird is almost identical (mechanically speaking), and does not have one. It has a CEL and some models included a redundant “check gauges” light IIRC.

Gut it, paint it like Dan Gurney’s Bud Moore Cougar, dominate LeMons. It's a pretty great deal.

I live in Boston so ‘ugly and dirty’ is pretty much what I’d want if I have to street park (which I would, if I had a car here). Parking it would cost more than the car though. I was thinking about bringing my JK up here, but after witnessing someone hit the car in front of them and the car behind them while trying to parallel park, I figured that wasn’t the best idea. This car, on the other hand, would be perfect.

Might be the starting point for a cool Lemons vehicle.

If I was local, that’d be my first car.

Because I don’t have a car.

But I want one.

Sounds like a good flip.

Buy it for 250. Wash it, check the tires, maybe change the oil, the easy saturday stuff... re-list for 1500$ and sit on it for a little while... take the first $1000 offered.

If it sits a while longer... maybe address some of the crispy-ness... maybe put some new wheels and tires on it. Nothing spices up the looks as much as an interesting set of wheels and tires... I could see bronze 17 or 18” Mustang-style (cobra Rs, FR500s, something... ) wheels on a Teal Cougar, which presumably has a tan interior. If it is gray inside... gunmetal gray makes green look mean.

The formal roofline might suggest more of a VIP look than a sport/tuner look.

A bit of a wheel-and-tire spice up may attract the eye of a school kid or someone who wants something inexpensive, but unique-looking.
